It is mandated to provide advanced instructions in the arts, agricultural and natural sciences as well as in technological and professional fields. Its main campus is located in Lingayen, Pangasinan. Other campuses are located in Alaminos City, Asingan, Bayambang, Binmaley, Infanta, San Carlos City, Santa Maria, and Urdaneta City.
The Pangasinan State University was chartered through the issuance of Presidential Decree No. 1497 promulgated on June 11, 1978 and became operational on July 1, 1979.
The University integrated the collegiate courses of five DECS supervised institutions in the province and all the programs of the Central Luzon Teachers College (CLTC) and Western Pangasinan College of Agriculture (WPCA).
Institutionally speaking, there were only two institutions that were integrated into the University system, namely, the then Central Luzon Teachers College (CLTC) in Bayambang and western Pangasinan college of Agriculture in Infanta. For the other institutions namely, the Asingan School of Arts and Trades (ASAT) in Asingan, Eastern Pangasinan Agricultural College (EPAC) in Sta Maria, Pangasinan College of Fisheries (PCF) in Binmaley, Pangasinan School of Arts and Trades (PSAT) in Lingayen, and the Speaker Eugenio Perez National Agricultural School (SEPNAS) in san Carlos City, that were integrated into the system were their respective collegiate programs. These said schools are still operating under the administration and supervision of the Department of Education (DepEd) and Technical Education and skills Development Authority (TESDA).
Central Luzon Teachers College (CLTC) came into being first as the Bayambang Normal School in 1922. It offered then the secondary normal course which prepared much needed teachers for country. The school closed in 1935 due to inadequate funds but opened up in 1948 under a new name- Pangasinan Normal school, which offered the two year collegiate teacher education program. It was in 1952- 1953 that the college like any other regional normal school began offering the four-year bachelor’s degree program for elementary teachers.
In 1953, the normal school with the elementary schools in the District of Bautista and the Bayambang National High School were merged to become the Philippine UNESCO National Community Training Center. It operated as a school division in Pangasinan.
Republic Act 5707 converted school into a chartered institution, the then Central Luzon Teachers College on June 21, 1969. As provided in the charter of the college, the major functions of the institution are instruction, research and extension service.

SEA Teacher & PSU

Good day! Magandang hapon po!

I’ve told you that I am currently in the Philippines right now doing my PPL program (if you forgot you should re-read this post LOL). This is my 5th day in Philippines. To be exact, I am in one of the best campus in the Philippines, that is Pangasinan State University (PSU) in Lingayen, Pangasinan, Philippines.

Oh, did you just wondered how could I get into the PSU? Well I will happily explain it to you.

As I said before, there are certain programs that the 7th semester student have to do. One of them is PPL. PPL is an abbreviation of Program Pengalaman Lapangan, or Field Experience Program. The PPL program is one of the activities that must be carried out by every FKIP students (Faculty of Teacher Training and Education) of 7th semester to achieve an undergraduate degree in education.

In my campus, there are another program being offered but has the same purpose as a regular PPL. This program is basically the same as PPL. Instead of teaching in local schools, this program allowed us to go abroad to teach in another country. This program is called SEA Teacher Project by SEAMEO.

The SEA Teacher Project or the “Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia” is a project that aims to provide opportunity for pre-service student teachers from universities in Southeast Asia to have teaching experiences (practicum) in schools in other countries in Southeast Asia.

I also explained in the previous post that I joined the program. I passed the test conducted by my campus officials for SEA Teacher Project and got placed in Pangasinan State University (PSU), Philippines. I was very shocked and grateful. Going abroad is my biggest dream!

So, here I am now in PSU!

According to Wikipedia, Pangasinan State University was founded in 1979. PSU is notable for its many locations throughout the province of Pangasinan. Its main campus is located in Lingayen, Pangasinan. Other campuses are located in Alaminos City, Asingan, Bayambang, Binmaley, Infanta, San Carlos City, Santa Maria, and Urdaneta City. PSU offered A LOT of programs, such as: Bachelor of Arts in English, Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (Pure, CIT and Statistics), Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management, Bachelor of Secondary Education, and many more!

For my teaching practice, I was placed on the main campus of PSU in Lingayen. The campus is very beautiful and clean. It has a lot of facilities accessible to all students such as library building, convention hall, campus canteen, an ENORMOUS field in the middle of the campus area, a gym, and so many more. The campus even has a dormitory for us to stay during our program! The dorm has 2 rooms with 5 bunk bed, which means the dorm has 10 beds! It also comes with a bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen with sink, appliances, utensils, a FRIDGE and a working gas stove! Oh and I forgot to mention that all the bedrooms have air conditioners.

We have a great stay until now. And I really believe that my stay in PSU with my other SEA Teacher Program delegates will be the best memory of my life!

See you on the next post! Paalam po!

Hello World!

Greetings! Magandang hapon po, guys!

As a first post on this blog, let me introduce myself. My name is Irzam Haikal Qilbari. My friends usually call me by my middle name, but sometimes people call me by my first name too. I was born on January 17th twenty years ago in Mataram City, the capital of Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB), Lombok Island, Indonesia. I am a 7th semester student of Mataram University. My major is English Education. It is a major under the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education.

As a 7th semester student, there are certain programs that I have to do. One of them is PPL or Program Pengalaman Lapangan in Indonesia (field experience program in English.) There are two options for us as an Unram’s FKIP English Education students; 1) a regular PPL in local schools, or 2) PPL in another country. Since I was on my early semesters, I’ve planned to do PPL in another country. I’ve heard my seniors telling their stories when they did PPL abroad. They inspire me to enroll to the SEA Teacher program. So, I did join the program under my university, together with my friends. After several weeks, we got the result. I PASSED THE TEST! As a matter of fact, I am currently in Philippines right now!

I’ll post more about my experience as a SEA Teacher 8th batch delegate in Philippines in my blog. So if you happen to stumble on my blog, or just randomly found my blog on the internet, I hope my story can inspire you as my seniors’ stories inspired me.
